Services Of Field Assistants To Be Reinstated
They had been removed three years back from service for allegedly being involved in the misuse of MGNREGS funds.
Hyderabad | 10th August 2022
Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday directed the officials concerned and district Collectors to take back all the field assistants into service with immediate effect.
The State government has taken this decision following the assurance given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during the last Assembly Budget sessions that all the field assistants would be taken back into service on humanitarian grounds.
Three years back, the State government had removed the field assistants engaged in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) from service for allegedly being involved in the misuse of funds. Since then, the removed field assistants with the support of various political parties and organisations have been undertaking an agitation, and organised various protest programs demanding that their services be reinstated.
They also pleaded with the State government on several occasions and submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister urging their reinstatement.
KCR took their pleas into consideration and announced their reinstatement during the last Assembly sessions.
As an outcome of that, the officials concerned and district Collectors were directed to take all the assistants into service from today and to depute them in their previous positions.
With the State government's decision, a total of 7,305 field assistants will be resuming duties across Telangana.
