JC Defends Power-Sharing Formula
Congress leader J C Diwakar Reddy had suggested that the CM's post should be held for 3 years by a Seemandra leader and for 2 years by a Telangana leader.
Former Congress Minister J C Diwakar Reddy, on Sunday, speaking to the media at the Assembly, defended his suggestion of power-sharing between Seemandra and Telangana regions, saying his intention was only to end political uncertainty in the state.
Diwakar Reddy said he his proposal was not intended to hurt the sentiments of the people of either region.
Responding to Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana taking serious exception on his statement, JC said he would place this proposal before the Congress High Command.
As part of his suggestion for power-sharing, he said the Chief Minister's post should be held for 3 years by someone from the Seemandra region and for the remaining 2 years by a Telangana leader. He said he hoped this proposal would reduce the intensity of the Telangana agitation to an extent.
Stating that the Telangana Congress leaders had hastily submitted their resignations due to the pressure mounted on them by Telangana leaders from other parties, he said that the people of region would backlash if they withdrew resignations now.
Also, there was no guarantee that these leaders would be re-elected as promised by the Telangana Political Joint Action committee, he said.
He further alleged that the Telangana agitation was launched by people eyeing posts, and added that people join politics only to come to power.
2-time MLA and PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana was also aspiring to become the Chief Minister of the state, he said.
The state capital Hyderabad was not a problem, JC said, and said that the sharing of river waters between Seemandhra and Telangana would pose a major threat.
JC Diwakar Reddy said that all Seemandra leaders would present their views before the High Command and oppose division of the state, on July 18. (INN)
