Telangana Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today tested positive for Covid-19.
He underwent testing after exhibiting telltale symptoms of the disease two days ago.
In a communique, Reddy revealed that he was currently under home quarantine and that his condition was stable. He appealed to the party workers and members of the public who had interacted closely with him in the past few days to immediately undergo Covid-19 tests, and to take all the necessary precautionary measures to keep themselves and others safe.
Before falling ill, the minister had been on extensive tours across the state. He had been meeting farmers to speak to them about various issues regarding the close of the Rabi season, and had also been meeting agriculture department officials regarding procurement processes and other matters.
Further, while on tour, he had participated in many meetings which were held to create awareness about oil palm cultivation.
The minister is the latest among many eminent personalities in Telangana to contract the disease. Congress leader and MP Revanth Reddy had also tested positive some time ago as had
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar.
In the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh, JSP founder and megastar Pawan Kalyan too
went into self-quarantine yesterday after some members of his personal staff tested positive for Covid-19.
