Telangana Resolution Soon: Babu
Minister for Civil Supplies and Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu said that the government seeks to resolve the Telangana issue after a consensus is evolved.
Minister for Civil Supplies and Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu on Friday stated that the government is ready to introduce a resolution on Telangana in the state Assembly provided that there a consensus emerges among the various political parties on the separate statehood issue.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, the minister said that the resolution introduced earlier was not passed due to differences among parties over the issue.
He criticized the statements made by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee members that ministers and MLAs from Telangana are not proactive enough in their efforts for a separate state.
Condemning the statement, the minister said that the TPJAC's blaming the ministers and MLAs was unfortunate, especially since it came at a time when they had written to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, seeking her appointment over the issue.
The minister asked the opposition party MLAs to utilize the House sessions effectively to raise issues of public importance, and help the Deputy Speaker conduct the House- business smoothly.
The minister also advised intermediate students to concentrate on their studies instead of participating in statehood agitation.
He also appealed to Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association to withdraw their non-cooperation agitation considering the deteriorating sanitary situation in the state.
