The State police conducted an extensive search across Telangana and discovered several of Nayeem's secret bases. Upon seizing one such hideout in the Millennium Township, near the place where he was gunned down, the police discovered four pistols, a stengun, two AK-47 rifles and its ammunition, several low-grade explosives, 17 cell phones, two cars and a scooter, cash of Rs. 3.75 lakhs, and 55 grams of gold. The cops also found 121 land documents.
Several family members of the slain gangster's associates in the township have been arrested and booked under sections 386, 25 (1B) (a) and 27 (IA), and sections 4 & 5 of the ES Act of the Indian Penal Code for aiding and abetting a crime, and holding unlicensed weapons.
Raids were also conducted in Bhongir, Miryalaguda and Hyderabad. Several of his associates and their family members were arrested. Their possessions including weapons, cheque books, passbooks, land documents, several promissory notes, gold loan documents, cell phones, machetes, a laptop and a computer hard disk were seized.
The police then searched the houses of Venkatesham, Mohammad Nasar, Shankar, Srishilam, Venkataiah, Sreenu, Shaik Jahangeer, Syed Farzana, Farhana, Afsha, Neela Sridhar and Balram, all of who were already on its radar, in several districts. The cops seized more than Rs. 2 crores in cash, country revolvers, modern pistols, assault rifles, grenades, detonators, gelatin sticks, machetes, axes, bullet-proof vests, cell phones, SIM cards, piles of ammunition, more than a few kilograms of gold and silver, land documents, bank passbooks and several other items.
All of the captured "associates" were arrested under various sections of the IPC. Their children were sent to care homes without any hassle or harm.
As is already know, in order to connect the dots between Nayeem and the droves of alleged associates who are being ferreted out each hour, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by IGP Y Nagi Reddy (North Zone) was constituted by DGP Anurag Sharma yesterday.
The police requested all surviving victims to come forward and contact the SIT on 94406-27218 or via the nearest police station, in order to help the team with its investigation.
The police will reportedly continue its massive manhunt for Nayeem's associates and dig out as much information as possible.
