Sudeep Talapaneni: Gandhiji said
'Non-cooperation is an attempt to awaken the masses, to a sense of their dignity and power. This can only be done by enabling them to realize that they need not fear brute force, if they would but know the soul within'.
But today, who are the sufferers because of this Non-cooperation Movement?
Not the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema. Telangana, esp. Hyderabad citizens are bearing the cross.
Where a work/certificate from a Government Office could be obtained for Rs.10 on a normal day, now you need to pay bribe and take it at his home. People should realize the essence of the underlying principles of Non-Cooperation and question the soul within if this helps them in anyway achieve dignity and power.
Abdul Hadi Ashher: Albeit non-co operation is a prelude 2 obtain the co-operation of the govt, the people in this telangana feuds r making the circumstances more atrocious by violent acts such as burning effigies, damaging the properties, setting the buses ablaze and all. The essence of non co-operation must seek to liquidate the antagonism but not to be antagonists themselves. So, if we truly wanna get justice in non-co operative way, we gotta read Gandhian principles deeply rather than just escaping our duties n believin it to be non co-operation movement. Its no less than masochism, to hit ourselves by the bundhs n its aftermath.
Rajsekhar Durgam: Non-cooperation as a movement to achieve a goal is always lot better than any of the violent alternatives. But non-cooperation which is enforced on others using violent or non-violent methods is not just inconvenient but also defeats the cause.
Coming to the cause of Telangana, there seems to be a wide spread sentiment across the region that there will be abundant prosperity in terms of lots of new business, jobs and fertile lands once Telangana becomes a state. This is a fallacy as I see because there will not be any new jobs created because of the new state since the existing jobs are already full enough. Even if a couple of hundred jobs do get created, it is certainly not worth the price of division.
If the T politicians can boldly make the correct statement that a separate T will not bring any new jobs or promotions, but will only make self rule possible, then I think the movement will not be as strong as it is now.
Congratulations, Sudeep Talapaneni, Abdul Hadi Ashher and Rajsekhar Durgam. They each win 2 tickets to a movie of their choice at Prasads IMAX.
It was certainly tough to pick the best from among the comments in the discussion. Here are a select few other insightful opinions:
Ravi Ingua: It's only justified if they practice non-cooperation by resigning from their jobs.
Sultan Salahuddin: The so called non-serpartist telangana movement hasn't been any fruitful . And yeah, boarding the buses and threatening the conducotrs doesn't give you Telangana. Neither does pelting stones, and ne...ither does any dharnas or bandhs or raasta rokos.
If we truly call Gandhiji The Father of our Nation, hwy don't we follow his doctrines and march a silent and peaceful protoest, if it Telanagana we want.
Time and again I fail to understand, why the common masses DO NOT comprehend the cunning strategies of the politicians and why they sing along with anyone and everyone upon being given a 100 or 200 bucks. This debate here would also be of no use, if we do not understand; what we actually need is not Telanagan but unision and development and growth,
Jai Telanagana, Jai Andhra, Jai Rayalaseema, Jai Bharat.
Armina Fatima: Is it people of telangana resorting to non cooperation movement or goons in disguise taking to crime and putting pressure on the govt. to meet their demands thru unlawful means..? Availing services and refusing to pay up is called non-cooperation? Not at all.. Causing huge loss of money and public property is non-cooperaton? Dont think so.. Its high time we sit back and start thinking where we are heading to. If peaceful dialogues cannot solve issues then nothing will..
