Leaders of CPI (ML - New Democracy) and Telangana United Front (TUF) were arrested by the police when they staged a protest at RTC cross roads on Saturday.
The Telangana supporters were staging their dharna in connection with the Telangana bandh protesting against the "Save Andhra Pradesh" meeting of APNGOs. The protests were being carried out under the leadership of CPI (ML-ND) and TUF.
They raised slogans supporting Telangana statehood, and burnt an effigy of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
With the protest of Telangana activists, traffic came to standstill at RTC cross roads for some time. The police arrested TUF leader Vimalakka, CPI (ML-ND) leader Govardhan and POW president Sandhya, and whisked them away from the place. (INN)
