What does the Hyderabadi feel about the incessant bandhs pulling everyday life to a creaking standstill? On the 22nd of February, fullhyd.com ran a contest on its
Facebook page, to gauge the pulse of a city that is being made increasingly restless by political parties calling for shutdowns in order to get their point across.
We received several insightful comments on the query we'd posted, i.e., "A Telangana bandh starts tomorrow. As a Hyderabadi, what do you feel about all this?". The winning comments were:
Sultan Salahuddin: I don't like to waste my time talking about sick things that make no sense and yield no fruit. If this 'telangana '' bullshit was so important to the masses we would have had another Tahrir Square in our Hyderabad. But, all we have is bandh...s and property losses and disruptions which go on to prove that it is all a political consiracy and the general masses at large aren't worried a bit about any telanaga or any andhra or any province. Let's live in Peace , whole India is our nation. The british have done enough to destory us, let's not divide ourselves further and understand the subtle policies of the good for nothing politicos and those who advocate for a separate land.
Armina Fatima: where r the days of non-violence and satyagraha? Forcefully shutting down offices, schools, markets n causing damage to public transport is so very anti social.. not to mention the huge losses to the government n thereby the public r the sufferers.. why dont all these pro-telangana activists sit for a fast unto death??? didnt we see many politicians benefiting out of the fast and their demands being met? that's the most compelling way to convince the government.. :D.
Mohd Najeeb Ahmed: One day will come when all the foolish students of OU who are supporting this movement will either be put behind bars or die or are left jobless with pathetic life, KCR will be a popular man, he takes Telangana and rules it by forming alliances with MLAs from andhra, who are finally fooled? the citizens the students.. ppl stop this madness stop being fools.. look after your life/career/business/family instead of running around behind these crazy heads.
Here's what some others have had to say:
Venkatesh Chittarvu: When the Babri Masjid was destroyed BJP singlehandedly tarnished the Image of the secular Nation India. But Hyderabadis were strong enough to overcome emotions and stay united and today Hyderabad is much integrated as before.A model to rest ...of the country as how to be secular.TRS caused the divide and is bent on changing the very character of Hyderabad.Hyderabad was never Mumbai and always accepted Indians from all corners of the country.North Easterners were never called Chinkys. We never even thought of North-South Divide at School and here people who speak the same language and of the same state are fighting. The best solution is to ban fundamentalist parties like BJP and TRS.Arrest their leaders and send them to Andamans.Thats the solution for keeping the Idea of India as strong as before
Swapna Vankamamidi: I am sick and tired of all these bandhs in the name of "fighting the Telangana cause"....everyone knows how politicians play with people's emotions. In so many years since independence there has been less development and more disruption due to various bandhs. Bandhs are nothing but anti-people and are carried out by political parties to satisfy their selfish vested agendas. Has a single politician laid down their life for the cause of Telangana so far? If the answer is no..i think we pretty much know what we are in for.
Sudeep Talapaneni: Hyderabad mein...
William Shakespeare bhi ban gayaa 'Wali Miya Sheikh Peer'
Arey.. Ye Bandh se kyun fear,
Hai naa fridge mein chilled beer
aur TV mein World cup Dear..
...India match aathe hee hogaa All Clear!!!
Amäñý Mýrzä: I love Hyderabad for providing us with holidays every now and then :D :))
Mahen Nath: Getting really pissed with these Bandhs .. Who is benefited ? God knows .. These folks out there must be utter fools to damaged the public property... It is Brand 'HYDERABAD' that is tarnished ... Humble request to these guys is to please stop these activities .. If achieving something peacefully is difficult ... achieving something using violence is impossible ... we all will be the ultimate sufferers , including you ..
Chandra Sekhar Pathivada: yes, why cant all these politicians sit for a fast unto death. instead troubling the citizens like hell.
Sriram Aditya: As a Hyderabadi, what do I feel about all this?... Well... I feel happy as I at least get to see a free movie by just commenting on the situation... but I am also quite sad by the fact that there are essentially no good movies in town and I'll have to skip the World Cup. Hmmm... What can an average Hyderabadi do in such tricky situations?... Well at least we have time to sit and think because of the Bandh :)
Bhargav Akhil Katikala: These are the worst things possible.....reli get irritated by thm..can even enjoy and cant even study at the same tym,....and y should students die y cant the idiotic politicians like KCR and all die simple..the prob would be solved if KCR is dead...!!!:) :)
Shalini Lahiri: Bandhs, especially Violent ones are pointless and Shameful. This si the country of Gandhiji, who with his philosophy of simple non-violence rallied people in every part of the country.
Damaging property and burning buses? And all these inde...finite fasts, this is just politicians becoming media whores in order to gain power and money. The real issues faced by the people in the region are not being highlighted because of this reason.
Stop the bandhs! Stop derailing people's lives! The common man of today has a lot of power, we can change the situation once we gather as one!

Anush Krishna: Brand Hyderabad has now become "Bandh Hyderabad" !
Sri Harsha: Chalo bahi bohut hogaya. As a Hyderabadi maitho tak jaya. Chalo jo hua so hua. hydrabad se HY(HIGH) DAR(FEAR) BAD(CITY) banadiya.
Swapna Vankamamidi: In fact we should start a movement like the one in Tahrir Square to show these politicians that we don't need them!
Roja Rani: I think people who are supporting or participating in these bandhs are absolutely clueless about the fact that they are just wasting their time, effort and energy for fulfulling the political motives of the every hungry politcicians. God save those guys!!
Syed Asim Razvi: who cares about bandhs, look at the brighter side, free HOLIDAYS :p
Kranthi Kiran: Am Jantha, Who are they? Do't these agitators belong to aam jantha. We people of hyderabad enjoy all things available. But there are people who have no money for higher studies. Who will help them, People of Andhra egions have money for mos...t of them, they help their area peole or caste people and do all sorts of bribing and get them education.Who will see about telangana. I accept all of you for anti bandh. When you are losing some thing you are anti for it, in the same way these telangana agitators want to be like others Hence bandhs are one of he ays for their agitations. No one is getting loss. These junior colleges are themselves doing wrong things hence there is no right for them to talk, school childrens get many holidays, they can prepare well for exam unless elders force them to do so
