Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that Telangana State had achieved tremendous progress on all fronts since its formation, and that it was now in the number one position in many fields, standing as a role model for other States in India.
Addressing the "National Integration Day" (as his government calls September 17, as opposed to the Government of India calling it Hyderabad Liberation Day) celebrations after hoisting the national flag at Public Gardens, Nampally, the Chief Minister said that Telangana was the only State in the country which had overcome its power crisis within a short span of time, and was providing 24 hours free quality electricity to agriculture and other segments.
"Telangana is also number one in per capita consumption of electricity, and number one in India in per capita income, which is Rs 3,12,398. Moreover, Telangana is also the only State in the country supplying clean and safe drinking water to 100 percent of its households under the Mission Bhagiratha. The development of Telangana has become a role model for the rest of the country," KCR claimed.
The Chief Minister said that the wheels of progress in Telangana remained unstoppable, notwithstanding the efforts of anti-progressive forces to obstruct them.
KCR also reiterated his "deep commitment to the State's welfare", and said that the comprehensive and integrated welfare model adopted by Telangana aimed to benefit all sections of society.
