The former CM said he would review the Congress government's one-year rule in a massive public meeting in February and show the BRS' power.
BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today lashed out at the Congress government, alleging that it had failed to address the issues of the people, and saying that the time had come to expose its misgovernance.
"The BRS was born for Telangana and will continue to be its protective shield until every citizen benefits," KCR said while addressing a group of party activists from Medapalli village in Zaheerabad's Jarasangam mandal.
The group had undertaken a 140-km padayatra over five days to meet him at his residence in Erravelli.
KCR said that the BRS had exercised patience for 14 months since the Congress came to power, and claimed that the people were now growing increasingly frustrated with its misrule.
He recalled the long struggle for Telangana's formation, and said that after statehood the BRS government had worked relentlessly over a decade to develop every sector.
"Within six months of Telangana's formation, the BRS ensured 24-hour electricity supply, a feat the Congress had failed to achieve for decades in the past. We also provided irrigation water through various projects, ensured drinking water for every household via Mission Bhagiratha, repaired lakes, and built major reservoirs like Mallanna Sagar. Through Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, we stood by the farmers, even during the pandemic. We also distributed sheep to shepherds and implemented multiple welfare schemes benefiting every section of society," he claimed.
Citing the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, KCR claimed that during the BRS rule the State's revenue grew by Rs 15,000 crore annually. However, under the Congress, the growth had reportedly fallen to Rs 13,000 crore per year, he said.
"Telangana flourished under the BRS, achieving development unparalleled in the country. The Congress, however, is pushing the State into chaos. If Telangana was leading the country in development and welfare under the BRS regime, the Congress government has, in just 14 months, dragged the State backward, making a mockery of governance. Even benefits for retired government employees are being neglected. Ironically, even a survey conducted by the Congress itself found that 75% of the respondents believed that the BRS rule was better," he claimed.
He alleged that the Congress government had reversed many of the BRS' initiatives, leading to disruptions in power and water supply and a decline in financial stability. "Financial experts warn that Telangana will face severe economic fluctuations if this mismanagement continues," he said.
He also alleged that instead of hearing dissenting voices that questioned its inefficiencies, the Congress government was filing cases against them.
He instructed BRS MLA and former minister Harish Rao to mobilize farmers for large-scale protests. He also announced plans to hold a massive public meeting in February, where he would review the Congress government's one-year rule and show the BRS' power.
MLAs Harish Rao, Manik Rao, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Chinta Prabhakar; former MLA Jeevan Reddy; DCMS Chairman Sivakumar; and several other leaders participated in the meeting.
