State BJP president G Kishan Reddy, on Tuesday, gave the credit of the recent developments on Telangana to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to reporters at the state BJP headquarters in Nampally, Kishan Reddy said that the Congress High Command took active interest in the Telangana issue after Narendra Modi announced that he would be coming to Hyderabad for a tour on August 11.
Reddy said that the Congress was 'afraid' of Modi's visit to Hyderabad and therefore, took active steps to resolve the Telangana issue.
However, Kishan Reddy warned the Congress against cheating the people of the region on the statehood issue. He also ruled out the possibilities of Rayala-Telangana and said that the proposal was originally mooted by the existence Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Further, he also said that the proposal for having Hyderabad as the joint capital of the two states was also not acceptable. (INN)
