The differences between the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee and the Bharatiya Janata Party widened further, with the latter deciding to launch its own bus yatra to counter
a similar yatra by the JAC.
BJP State president G Kishan Reddy, on Thursday, released a poster of the 10-day Telangana Bharosa Yatra to be launched on 16 April. The Yatra will start from Mahabubnagar, and conclude in Warangal on 26 April.
Talking to media persons at the program, party Yuva Morcha state president Dr. K Venkateswarlu called upon students not to end their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood.
He said that most of the students have been ending their lives as they were disappointed due to the Centre's attitude in delaying the decision on statehood ostensibly for "consultation processes" with all stakeholders.
Venkateswarlu said that the Telangana Bharosa Yatra would increase self-confidence among students and Telangana activists over the issue of bifurcation of th state, and boost their morale over the agitation.
Stating that 862 students have committed suicide so far for the cause of Telangana, he appealed to the youth not to lose hope.
He said that if Congress leaders fail to achieve Telangana by 2014, the BJP will pass a bill on Telangana in Parliament if it comes to power at the Centre.
Venkateshwarulu said that the party's national leaders have been invited for the Bharosa Yatra.
The BJP's Bharosa yatra assumes importance in the wake of the JAC's bus yatra to "expose" the posturing of the Congress and the TDP on Telangana.
Sources say that the BJP wants to strengthen its party rank and file after the success of Kishan Reddy's Telangana Poru yatra in the Telangana districts. (INN)
