Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao unveiled the new Siddipet district and vowed to develop it using verifiable measures and standards.
Addressing a gathering along with Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao during the launch of the new Siddipet district on October 11, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vowed to develop the district using verifiable measures and standards.
Amid celebrations on the creation of the new districts in the State for the ease of administration, the Chief Minister, in Siddipet, recalled that former CM of united Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao was handed over a proposal to make Siddipet a district. But due to certain constraints, the proposal could not pass through, KCR said, and added that the mantle was finally picked up by the TRS-led government and hence Siddipet was carved into a district.
With this, KCR said that the new district, like all other districts in Telangana, would start developing at a pace never seen before. He promised to remove the "backward districts" tag that had been pegged by the Centre on the nine original districts (except Hyderabad) of Telangana, soon.
Elaborating on the initiatives that the State government is intending to take up in the Siddipet district, the CM said that the government would construct a medical college under its ambit by next year, along with a government-funded university. He also promised that he would put Siddipet and other districts in Telangana on the national railway corridor. Siddipet, soon, would also get its own SP office, district office, district court, more universities and several other government infrastructure. Siddipet would soon start receiving Godavari river waters for its use.
KCR said that he already spoke to the Prime Minister regarding this and received a positive response in the form of a whopping Rs. 100 crores Central funding for the development of Siddipet alone, he said.
In an indirect rebuttal of the Opposition's criticism on the manner in which the districts were reorganized, he pointed out that the Telangana now has 31 new districts, 25 new revenue divisions, 31 new collectors, 68 RDOs, among other government facilities. He, however, refused to comment anything directly about the Opposition parties.
Finally, he congratulated Telangana over the division of districts and said that this would put an end to "autocratic rule by a few administrators".
