Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the new districts collectors to formulate a 10-year action plan on developing the newly formed districts through major administrative reforms.
At a review meeting attended by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, senior officials BP Acharya, Narsingh Rao, Shanta Kumari, Smitha Sabarwal, Priyanka Varghis, Rahul Bojja, Karuna, Raghunandan, Satyanarayana Reddy and Bhupal Reddy, KCR emphasized the need to address the "perennial problem of corruption" in various departments and deliver services in a more transparent and expeditious manner.
"A meeting of collectors will be held soon to chalk out schemes, plans and policies to be implemented in the new districts based on expert analysis and also on the expectations of the people. In this meet, the government will announce major administrative reforms. The reforms will focus on the improvement in per capita income and living standards of people. Also, officials from now on shall discharge their duties without irregularities, corruption or delay in the completion of welfare initiatives," the Chief Minister said.
People were expecting effective governance and corruption free services, now that the districts had been reorganized, he said, adding that the government would deliver on the expectations through transparent welfare schemes.
The administration was now more decentralized, with each Collector having to monitor only 2 to 4 lakh families under his/her purview with the help of smaller administrative units and guidance of senior IAS officers, he said, adding that the implementation of welfare schemes, too, were at an advantage through decentralization.
