Telangana Congress leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah urged Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma to revoke the Section 144 (curfew) that was imposed in Jangaon.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee leader and former minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today met Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma and urged him to revoke the Section 144 (curfew) that was imposed in Jangaon following protests demanding district status for the region.

Speaking to the media, Lakshmaiah said that imposing a curfew over harmless protests was an unconstitutional move, and that the people of Jangaon were facing a lot of problems due to the prohibitory order for the last 60 days.

He urged the concerned officials to solve people's problems instead of gagging their freedom of speech.
