Telangana BJP floor leader in the State Assembly G Kishan Reddy today urged State DGP Anurag Sharma to resolve the problems of the Home Guards highlighted by them during the ongoing protests.
Reddy met with the DGP in the latter's office and submitted a memorandum to this effect. He demanded that the government provide them with benefits as recommended by the committee headed by IPS Kaumudi.
He said that the services of home guards were being utilized in various departments in both the States including in law & order, task force, the GHMC and the traffic wing. But they were not getting pay scales or dignity on par with police officials, he claimed.
The BJP leader also demanded the abolition of hierarchy within the Police department and treat Home Guards as employees of the State government.
He urged the DGP to concede the demands of the home guards including the implementation of the latest minimum wage act as promulgated by the Centre, 50% reservation in jobs to home guards for the rank of police constables, promotions for the home guards to the ranks of police constable after three years of service, payment of lump sum gratuity of Rs. 5 lakhs on retirement at the age of 60.
