Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Harishwar Reddy declared that a Telangana Nagara would be conducted in the Ranga Reddy district on Saturday.
Going against party President N Chandrababu Naidu's
directives, the Telangana leader said that the Nagara would not hoist the TDP flag, and that only a flag of the Telangana region would make an appearance at the event.
Explaining his decision to go against the TDP chief's orders, Reddy said that the political leaders belonging to other parties would not participate in the event if the TDP flag was hoisted at the event. He opined that, at present, it was necessary to instill belief in the people that politicos are fighting for thier upliftment.
He expressed confidence that the Telangana leaders from the TDP, and the members of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) would attend the event.
However, speculations are rife that neither TDP leaders nor TJAC members will attend the event.
Since a majority of the Telangana TDP leaders had reportedly voiced out their support for the hoisting of the TDP flag at the Nagara, according to sources, they may not respond to Harish's call to participate in the Nagara on Saturday.
TJAC convenor Kodandaram had expressed dissent over the Telangana Nagaras, for the simple reason that they are not being hosted by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
