Municipal Election Schedule Released, Polling On Jan 22

The schedule for elections to the 120 municipal councils and 10 municipal corporations in Telangana was announced today by the State Election Commission.

According to the schedule, polling will be held on January 22, and the counting of votes will take place on January 25.

The Model Code of conduct will come into force with immediate effect.

The following is the full schedule:

1. The tentative date for issue of the election notification by the State Election Commission is January 7, 2020.

2. The last date for filing nominations is January 10 (Friday).

3. The date for the scrutiny of nominations is January 11 (Saturday).

4. The date for appeal against rejection of nomination before the district election authority or additional district election authority / deputy district election authority as authorized by district election authority concerned is January 12.

5. The date for the disposal of appeals is January 13 (Monday).

6. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 14

7. The date for the publication of the final list of contesting candidates is January 14.

8. The date of polling is January 22 (7 am to 5pm).

9. Repolling, if any, will be on January 24.

10. The date of counting of votes is January 25 - results will be declared the same day after the completion of the counting of votes.
