The Sangareddy police on Thursday arrested local MLA and Congress leader T Jagga Reddy, his wife and DCC president Nirmala Jagga Reddy, and his daughter Jaya Reddy.
The arrests were made when Jagga Reddy sat for a dharna demanding that the state government withdraw its decision to remove the PG Centre from the district. He was accompanied by scores of the students of the college.
Enraged at his arrest, Reddy tried to take out a huge rally later to lay siege to the district collectorate along with the students. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the future of 500 students of the PG College would be put to jeopardy if the centre was removed from the district headquarters. He said that he had brought the centre to the district during the Congress rule in 2012, and that around 2,000 students of the district had passed out from the centre so far.
He warned the state government of dire consequences if it didn't withdraw its decision to remove the centre.
