A super luxury TSRTC bus caught fire at the Station Ghanpur mandal of Telangana's Jangaon district today.
The incident took place when the bus was going to Hyderabad from Hanmakonda town. It was carrying 30 passengers at the time of the accident.
Fortunately, however, none of the passengers in the bus were injured owing to the alertness of the driver. On spotting the flames, he had immediately stopped the vehicle on the side of the road. He later evacuated all the passengers from the vehicle, saving their lives.
The bus itself was completely gutted within minutes of catching the fire. The staff of the fire prevention department reached the spot and doused the flames. The TRS MLA from the region also visited the spot and inspected the vehicle. He spoke to the fear-stricken passengers as well.
RTC officials have reportedly found that the fire accident was the result of a short circuit in the vehicle.
This incident comes just days after a
similar one took place in Yadadri Bhuvanagari district - the rear wheels of another TSRTC bus came off while it was travelling through Motakondur mandal. The bus had been carrying 40 passengers at the time of the incident.
However, the bus driver was able to avert a major accident. On realising that the wheels were coming loose, he had slowed down the moving vehicle, preventing a mishap. The incident had occurred when the vehicle was going towards Torrur from Hyderabad.
