Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today launched the flagship Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme at the Macharam village in Amrabad mandal of Nagar Kurnool district.
This scheme aims to empower 2.1 lakh tribal farmers by providing solar powered irrigation facilities and ensuring comprehensive development of six lakh acres of Podu lands over the next five years.
Addressing a public meeting in Macharam to mark the occasion, the Chief Minister, identifying himself as a son of Nallamala, expressed his joy and gratitude at being able to connect with the local community.
"I assure you that the Achampet Assembly constituency will be developed into a model for the nation. I am committed to securing the necessary funding for this endeavour," Reddy said.
He alleged that the previous government had incarcerated people who fought for ownership rights over Podu lands, but in contrast the current Congress government was promoting agriculture by installing solar pumpsets on those lands.
"I promise that the State government will provide solar pumpsets to all farmers in the constituency. Officials have been instructed to complete the process within 100 days," he said.
Speaking about the performance of his government, the CM said, "The Union government has declared Telangana as the number one State in taking effective measures to control the prices of essential commodities and ensuring their supply to the poor. Telangana also ranks at the top in maintaining law and order. Though the opposition raised doubts about the competence of Palamuru leaders in governing the State, we proved them wrong by making Telangana a frontrunner in all sectors."
He also alleged that certain political forces were spreading false propaganda against the government on social media using ill-gotten money.
"I am indifferent to those who spread misleading information with ulterior motives. Despite these false claims, our welfare programs will speak for themselves. The people of Telangana will give a fitting response to those who spread lies about the government," Reddy concluded.
