Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao today laid the foundation for several developmental works in Mahabubnagar district's Jadcherla region.
The minister inaugurated a Mission Bhagiratha water tank and B T Road in Kaverammapet village, and the Nalla Cheruvu mini tank bund in Azad Nagar. He also inspected the double-bedroom houses being built under the TRS government's free housing scheme in Kaverammapet, and participated in a tree plantation function in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "The main objective of our Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is to develop all the villages and towns of our state in a truly holistic fashion. Under his guidance, we are working to enlarge our welfare schemes as well. While 40 lakh people currently benefit from our Aasra pension scheme, we will soon expand its overage to include every eligible beneficiary in Telangana. Beedi workers in the state are already covered under the program."
To demonstrate the CM's solidarity with the people of the state, Rao then claimed that the rice that was provided to government-run educational institutions was of exactly the same quality that the CM himself ate.
"We are deeply committed to student and teacher welfare. Our government is spending Rs 1.25 lakh on each student enrolled in the state's residential educational institutions and has implemented a fee reimbursement scheme for all the eligible students. Further, we have decided to give Rs 2,000 and 25 kgs of rice to the employees of all private educational institutions of the state following the closure of the institutions," he added.
The minister then expressed his appreciation for former minister and incumbent Jadcherla MLA C Laxma Reddy for the latter's role in the establishment of the Polepally IT Special Economic Zone and said that the latter had done much to develop it.
He was accompanied by minister Srinivas Goud and MLA Laxma Reddy on his visit.
Earlier in the day, KTR had visited Kothur in Rangareddy district. There, he laid the foundation for a municipal office building and a B T Road. He also launched the works for some beautification works.
