Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today visited and inspected the progress of the ongoing construction works of the new Secretariat complex, undertaken at a cost of about Rs 617 crore.
KCR interacted with the project's engineers and the representatives of the working agency present on the site to inquire about the status of the same.
He instructed them to expedite the completion of the project, touted by many as being his "dream project", and said, "Please speed up the completion of the construction of the new Secretariat wing, and ensure that the highest quality standards are maintained while doing so."
During his inspection, the CM also visited the construction sites of the main entrance, the other gates and the main building complex, and examined the designs for the them.
Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Koppula Eshwar, Government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Principal Secretary (R&B) Sunil Sharma, Engineer-in-Chief Ganapathi Reddy, Rythu Bandhu Samithi President Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy also accompanied the Chief Minister.
The Telangana government hopes that the new Secretariat, which recently received environmental clearance from the union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, will be completed within a year.
Of late, there has been much controversy regarding the project, as leaders of the Opposition claim that the CM had sanctioned the demolition of two mosques and a temple to facilitate the construction.
Congress leader Shabbir Ali even demanded that the CM
sanction the reconstruction of the three places of worship at their original locations, at the earliest.
