Inauguration Of New Telangana Secretariat Postponed
The inauguration of the newly-constructed Secretariat building scheduled for February 17 has been postponed due to the Model Code of Conduct coming into force.
The inauguration of the newly-constructed State Secretariat building scheduled for February 17 has been postponed due to the Model Code of Conduct coming into force ahead of the MLC elections in Telangana.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took a decision to this effect, after consulting the Election Commission of India and Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari.
The State government had previously fixed the date of February 17 for the inauguration to mark the occasion of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's birthday, and had planned grand celebrations.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav and other prominent leaders from across the nation were invited for the program.
The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) had also planned to organise a massive public meeting at Secunderabad on that day, and legislators from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts were directed to mobilise people in large numbers for the meeting.
Now, with the inauguration of the Secretariat building postponed, a fresh date will be announced soon.
