Katamayya Rakshaka Kavacham Scheme Launched For Toddy Tappers
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy today launched a Katamayya Rakshaka Kavacham scheme for toddy tappers, to help prevent accidents.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a Katamayya Rakshaka Kavacham scheme for toddy tappers at Tativanam in Abdullapurmet mandal in Rangareddy district today.
The Katamayya Rakshaka Kavacham helps prevent accidents while toddy tappers are climbing trees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State government was committed to extending assistance to people who relied on traditional occupations, and the new scheme would be helpful to the toddy tappers.
He claimed that the Congress government was striving for the upliftment of the weaker sections. He also said that the government would not object to the growing of plam and Indian date palm trees in the government lands, and even advised Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to take up the plantation of palm and Indian date palm trees in the Vanamahotsavam programme.
He also asked minister Sridhar Babu to take the initiative for the plantation of such trees on the banks of water bodies, roads, ponds and canals in Telangana.
"The State government is committed to protecting the culture of the Goud community. But I also appeal to the community people to focus on higher studies for their children and make them capable of more professions," Reddy said. (The Goud community is traditionally into toddy tapping.)
On a different topic, the CM also said that the State government would extend the Metro Rail facility upto Hayath Nagar soon, and that all the plans necessary for that had been prepared.
He also said that the State government had envisaged plans to set up universities, a medical tourism hub and industries in the land acquired for pharma companies.
The State government would also take up the responsibility of building a magnificent city at Maheswaram to compete with New York, he said.
"The wonderful Rachakonda area, which is similar to Ooty, will also be developed into the hub of filmmaking industry," he added.
He also said that Rangareddy district would witness huge development soon, and that the State government was planning to promote the district as a wonderful destination for tourists.
