COAI Urges TGSPDCL To Stop Cutting Optical Fibre Cables
In recent days Hyderabad had witnessed severe disruptions in Internet access through fibre-to-home broadband services due to the cable cuts, the COAI said.
The Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) today urged Telangana authorities to immediately stop the indiscriminate and aggressive cutting of optical fibre cables by the electricity department, TGSPDCL.
It mentioned that a major network outage was currently affecting a large number of home broadband users across Hyderabad.
In recent days the city had witnessed severe disruptions in fibre-to-home broadband services due to repeated cable cuts by the TGSPDCL staff, the COAI said.
COAI Director General S P Kochhar said that the telecom industry was working to restore connectivity at the earliest. He added that the repeated disruptions were causing immense inconvenience to citizens, businesses and essential services that relied on uninterrupted internet access.
"We strongly urge the concerned authorities to immediately put an end to such indiscriminate actions and ensure better coordination, as reliable internet connectivity has become an essential lifeline in today's digital world. Internet cables do not carry electricity and are in no way linked to power infrastructure," Kochhar said.
