More than 100 junior doctors held protests at the Vaidhya Vidhana Parishad at Sultan Bazar on Wednesday against the recruitment of doctors on contract by the Telangana Government.
The junior doctors strongly opposed the ongoing counselling for recruitment of doctors on a contract basis.
Speaking to media persons, Dr M Koteshwar Rao, a representative of the junior doctors association, said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi had assured before the elections that it would eradicate the system of contract employees after coming to power.
However, the TRS Government was not only continuing the system, it had started hiring doctors on a contract basis.
He demanded that the government stop the ongoing recruitment process and hire doctors on a permanent basis.
Further, he said that the junior doctors wanted the government to drop the clause on compulsory service in rural areas.
A few doctors were also taken into custody when they tried to enter the VVP office. They were released later on personal bonds. (INN)
