Today, Telangana Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy exchanged harsh words at a public program at Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
The fight between the two broke out during a ration card distribution program at Choutuppal after an angry Rajgopal Reddy barged into the venue, lashing out at the minister for not having invited him to the program.
At this, Jagadish Reddy lambasted the Congress leader for "creating problems during a public program" by "snatching" away a microphone from him. The furious minister even called the MLA a "cheap person".
"It is shameful that Rajgopal Reddy is creating issues while the distribution of ration cards is underway. Despite all the problems caused by the Congress, our government will continue with its ration card distribution," he said.
The rebukes led Rajgopal Reddy to hit back saying that the minister was "shameless".
"Where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is giving Huzurabad Rs 2,000 crore for development, Jagadish Reddy has failed to even get Rs 200 crore for the development of Suryapet. He is a shameless leader," he alleged.
"It is the wont of TRS leaders to forget promises. The CM himself has failed to fulfil the promises he had made about the provision of affordable housing, and the welfare of the poor," the MLA added.
He also condemned the minister for "failing to follow protocol", claiming that the latter had been wrong not to have invited him for the distribution program.
Rajgopal Reddy then accused the TRS of forgetting that Telangana had been granted statehood by the UPA government and AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, and thundered, "All the political parties in the region had made collective efforts to secure statehood. KCR alone cannot claim credit for the creation of the state."
The verbal duel between the two leaders carried on for some time, causing considerable tension at the meeting. TRS supporters and Congress supporters also began to blame each other for "disrupting" the ration card distribution.
