Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy today said only the BJP had the capacity to defeat the ruling TRS in the State.
He also said that there was a "historic" need for him to leave the Congress and join another party. He however did not say that he would join the BJP.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said that the time had come for him to leave the Grand Old Party. He added that he would quit as MLA whenever he decided to leave the Congress.
Referring to his recent meeting with union home minister Amit Shah, Reddy said that he did not talk politics with Shah, but that he did discuss the political conditions in the State.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Reddy said that Telangana, which was once renowned as a surplus budget State, had now been reduced to a debt-ridden State.
He also alleged that KCR was planning to regain the glory he had lost after the Huzurabad Assembly constituency by-election, through the by-election in his constituency Munugodu that would get necessitated once he resigned, and that the CM was carrying out false propaganda against him. He said that he would however not become a pawn in a game played by KCR.
Targeting his rival in the Congress TPCC chief Revanth Reddy, he claimed that the Congress had failed in taking KCR on under Revanth Reddy's leadership, and that it would be difficult for him to work with those who had recently joined the party.
Close associates of Rajagopal Reddy are saying that their leader was likely to make an announcement on his political future in August.
