The YSR Congress appears to be a heading towards a major split over the issue of Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation.
On Saturday, former minister Konda Surekha, who had
registered her protest after 16 YSRCP MLAs submitted their resignations in favour of a united state, met the party's honorary president Y S Vijayamma at Lotus Pond. She was accompanied by her husband Konda Murali.
Other leaders, including Ravinder Naik, G Balakrishna Reddy and K K Mahender Reddy, were also present.
Surekha and others wanted the party to clarify its stand on Telangana, and on whether the MLAs' resignations were the party's decision or their individual decisions. They also wanted to know whether the party still stands by the decision taken during its last plenary session.
However, the Telangana leaders were said to be "dissatisfied" with the reply that they received from Vijayamma.
Talking to reporters later, Konda Surekha and others said that they were not in a position to move around in the Telangana region due to their party's stand.
Surekha said that a meeting would be convened with the leaders and workers of the Telangana region soon, and that the future course of action would be decided then. (INN)
