Y S Vijayalakshmi Quits YSR Congress Party

With Jagan making himself the life-time president of the YSR Congress Party, this was perhaps to be expected.
Hyderabad | 8th July 2022
Y S Vijayalakshmi, popularly known as Y S Vijayamma, today announced in the YSRCP plenary that she was resigning from the post of honorary president of the party.

She also announced that she was resigning from the primary membership of the YSRCP.

Stating that her daughter Y S Sharmila, president of the YSR Telangana Party, was fighting alone in Telangana, Vijayalakshmi said that she had a moral responsibility to support her daughter, and so had decided to quit the ruling YCP.

She said that as YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRTP president Y S Sharmila were heading different political parties, it would not be proper for her to be part of both the parties. That was why she had taken the decision to quit the YSR Congress Party, she said.

She also clarified that as a mother she would always be in support of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, too.

She added that Sharmila had founded her party in Telangana in order not to cause any problem for her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP.

For the unversed, Jagan is making himself the life-time president of the YSR Congress Party.
