Former minister Konda Surekha might quit YSRCP, if Y S Vijayamma fails to clarify whether the 16 MLAs who resigned did it of their own free will or if it was the party's initiative.
Former minister Konda Surekha is most likely to quit the YSR Congress party following the resignation of 16 of the party's MLAs over the Telangana issue.
Earlier on Friday, Surekha had given an ultimatum to the party's honorary president Y S Vijayamma, asking her to clarify the mass resignation of the party's MLAs.
Konda Surekha had said that Vijayamma has to clarify whether the decision to resign from the post was taken on an individual basis by the MLAs, or whether it was the party's decision to take an anti-Telangana stand.
Surekha feels that the MLAs' resignations have branded the YSRCP as a 'Seemandhra' party.
According to sources, senior leaders have intensified their efforts to pacify Surekha, anad have reportedly assured her that the MLAs were firm on their resignation.
Sources say that these senior leaders will be meeting Vijayamma in the evening to explain their version. In the prevailing circumstances, it is possible that Surekha might quit the YSRCP in the next few days. (INN)
