Congress In-Charge Of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad has called for a meeting of MPs from the state on March 22nd as a part of his efforts to find a solution for the separate statehood demand.
Azad, who replaced Veerappa Moily as the AP affairs in-charge of AICC, will meet MPs from the Telangana region in the morning and those from Seemandhra in the evening.
According to sources, the meetings are a part of the attempts by Azad to find ways to increase cooperation among the MPs to chalk out a future course of action on the Telangana statehood demand.
Sources say that Azad has called for the meetings on the directions of the Congress high command on Wednesday, to sort out the differences between the Andhra Pradesh MPs.
The MPs are divided on regional lines over the issue of the bifurcation of the state.
The high command is expected to convey its opinion on the Telangana state formation to both Seemandhra and Telangana MPs, and elicit their views on the issue.
The MPs are expected to be told to work for the progress of state, and to put aside the issue of a separate Telangana, till the completion of Assembly elections in 5 states.
According to reports, the high command will focus its attention on Telangana only after the election results are announced.
After the meeting on March 22nd, Azad will convene yet another meeting with both Seemandhra and Telangana MPs on March 23rd.
