Ghulam Nabi Azad Told To Support T

Telangana Congress leaders are reported to have requested Ghulam Nabi Azad to support the Telangana statehood demand.
Hyderabad | 17th May 2011
Congress In-Charge for AP Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad entertained a steady flow of Congress ministers during his 2-day stay in the city. And if it was not the alleged incompetance of Kiran Kumar Reddy, it was the controversial Telangana issue that he has had to deal with.

Telangana Congress leaders had voiced out that supporting the cause of Telanga was the only way the Congress would remain in power in at least one region of the state.

Vocal activist and balladeer Gummadi Vittal Rao, popularly known as Gaddar, stated that he would call upon Ghulam Nabi Azad to initiate the procedure for a separate Telangana. He asserted that the kids of Telangana respond to the call of "Jai Telangana" with a resounding "Jai Jai Telangana" and that this fact should help the Congress High Command guage the intensity of the people's desire for Telangana.

MP Manda Jagannadham informed the media that Azad had assured him that the High Command would respond favourably to the request of supporting the cause of the Telangana people and initiating the formation of a separate state.

Various Telangana Congress MPs are reported to have stated that they were prepared to sacrifice their political status for the Telangana statehood, and that they would quit the Congress if a decision favouring Telangana was not taken soon.

On the other hand, Congress leaders from the Seemandhra region are understood to have appealed to Azad to support Samaikya Andhra. The leaders reportedly warned the Congress General Secretary that the party would lose the 2014 elections if the state is bifurcated.
