Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu today called on official delegates from the Latin American and Caribbean nations to encourage their local industrialists to invest in Telangana, claiming that the State had a very industry-friendly environment.
Speaking as the chief guest at the second edition of the India-Latin America and Caribbean Countries Business Conclave, organised by the Global India Business Forum (GIBF) at Banjara Hills, the minister spoke about Telangana's investment advantages and the various incentives offered by the State government.
He said that the trade policies introduced by US President Donald Trump - particularly the imposition of tariffs on goods from multiple countries - had in some ways benefited India, and that many industrialists exploring new investment opportunities were increasingly turning their focus toward India. He said that Telangana was actively working to leverage these ongoing global developments and attract greater investments, and assured the delegates that the State government would provide comprehensive support to all industrialists willing to invest in the State.
"Telangana will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Indian economy. A special policy has also been introduced to empower MSMEs in the State to compete on the global stage," the minister said.
The minister added that the government was promoting the establishment of industrial units in tier-2 and tier-3 cities across the State, with a particular focus on agro-processing units aimed at transforming farmers into successful entrepreneurs. He said that six international companies - including three from South Korea - had already come forward to invest in the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad.
He said that Telangana and the Latin American and Caribbean countries had several cultural and economic similarities, and extended an invitation to them for deeper collaboration.
