Foundation Laid For Massive Lenskart Production Facility
The eyewear company's new unit, a Rs 1,500 crore investment, is expected to be the world's largest eyewear production facility, and create 2,100 jobs.

Lenskart, the leading eyewear company of the country, today commenced the construction in Hyderabad of what is expected to become the world's largest eyewear production facility.
The foundation stone for this ambitious project was laid today by the Telangana minister for IT and Industries, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, at the Non-SEZ General Park in Tukkuguda, on the outskirts of the city.
The facility represents a substantial investment of approximately Rs 1,500 crore and is expected to generate around 2,100 employment opportunities.
Babu expressed pride in Lenskart's decision to establish this facility in Telangana, and claimed that this development was proof of Telangana's growing prominence as a preferred destination for global industrial ventures.
He claimed that the State had a highly conducive environment for investments, and proactive, industry-friendly governance.
He also said that the government was dedicated to ensuring that local talent benefited from the employment opportunities created by the new industrial units.
Lenskart CEO and co-founder Peyush Bansal said that the facility was an important milestone for the company as it continued to innovate in the eyewear industry. He said that the facility would play a pivotal role in expanding Lenskart's manufacturing capacity, catering to India, Asia and the Middle East, and creating new opportunities in the region.
Spanning 50 acres, the upcoming plant is designed to be an integrated facility encompassing all aspects of the manufacturing process, including frames, lenses and eyewear accessories. Once fully operational, it is expected to surpass Lenskart's existing advanced manufacturing unit in Rajasthan, and become the company's largest and most advanced eyewear production hub globally. It is projected to have the capacity to produce over 200,000 glasses per day, catering to both domestic and international markets across Asia and the Middle East.
The facility will reportedly be equipped with cutting-edge technology and automation to ensure superior quality and innovation in eyewear production.
The first phase of the facility is anticipated to become operational by the end of 2025, with full-scale operations expected within four years.
This state-of-the-art facility is the result of a strategic collaboration between the Telangana government and Lenskart, headquartered in Gurugram. An MoU for this initiative was signed on December 8, 2024.
