Inter Results: Opposition Leaders Meet Governor

A delegation of opposition leaders met the Governor and sought Rs 25 lakh for the family members of each of the students who had committed suicides.
Hyderabad | 25th April 2019
A delegation of leaders of all Telangana Opposition political parties on Thursday called on Governor E S L Narasimhan and submitted two different reports on the burning Intermediate students' issue.

The delegation comprised leaders of the Congress, the TDP, the TJS, the CPI and the Telangana Inti Party.

Addressing mediapersons later along with CLP Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other Opposition leaders, Telangana PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Intermediate education was a turning point in every student's career, and that the lives of lakhs of students in the State were destroyed due to the irregularities committed by the officials of the Board of Intermediate Education.

He also said that the people in the State had lost confidence in the State government.

Reddy claimed that the suicides of the Intermediate students amounted to government-sponsored murders. He also alleged that an incident of this magnitude took place primarily due to the contract for the Intermediate examinations being given to Globarena.

He said that the delegation had urged the Governor to direct the officials to re-evaluate the answer sheets free of cost, and also pay compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family members of each of the students who had committed suicides.

Reddy also said that the leaders had urged the Governor to suspend the relevant Board of Intermediate Education officials and order an inquiry into the issue by a sitting judge of High Court.

He said the Governor had responded positively to their pleas.

Reddy also demanded that the Chief Minister suspend the Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy. He then exhorted the affected students to not commit suicides, and assured total support from the Congress.

Commenting on Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the former was not coming to Hyderabad and also not taking any action against the MLAs who had defected to the TRS from the opposition parties despite the fact that the opposition parties had submitted multiple notices urging the Speaker to take action against them.

He also lamented that some greedy Congress leaders were selling themselves to the ruling party for a price.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also alleged that the TRS was trying to bestow the main Opposition status upon the MIM by hijacking Congress MLAs and diluting the CLP.

TDP State president L Ramana said that Chief Minister KCR and Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy were totally responsible for the suicides of the Intermediate students. He to odemanded that the State government pay ex gratia to the family members of the deceased students. He also said that the opposition parties would hold an all-party dharna before the office of the Board of Intermediate Education on April 29.

Telangana Jana Samithi president Professor Kodandaram said that Globarena did not have the experience needed to offer services to the Board of Intermediate Education. He promised that the opposition parties would continue their agitation till justice was done to the students.
