Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today held a corner meeting at Kataram junction in Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district. He addressed the gathering in scorching heat.
Speaking on the occasion, Gandhi said that the fight in the upcoming Telangana elections was between the feudal rulers and the people. He said that the State had become a captive in the hands of the family of CM K Chandrashekar Rao. He also alleged that the BRS, BJP and MIM were cooperating with each other to defeat the Congress.
"The MIM is not fighting against the BJP. Across the country, the party is indirectly supporting the BJP. It is the BJP that decides where the MIM should field candidates," he claimed.
He also said that the BJP and the BRS were one and the same. "If KCR is really fighting against the BJP, why are there no ED and CBI cases against him? Everyone understands the reason behind such acts," he said.
Gandhi also demanded that a caste enumeration be carried out in the country, claiming that such an enumeration would be like an X-ray of the country. "It is only through the caste census that various sections of the country get the benefits of welfare. I asked in Parliament how many BC, ST, and SC officers are there in the country. Only 5% of the officers belong to these communities. If the country is to develop, people from all walks of life should be made partners, and caste enumeration should be carried out and the wealth of the country be made available to all sections of the society," he said.
Gandhi claimed that the union government was waiving off lakhs of crores of rupees of the loans of industrialist Adani, but troubling the farmers by not waiving off their farm loans. He lamented that farmers' loans, labourers' loans and self-employment loans were not being waived off by the State or the union governments.
Rahul said that soon after his party returned to power in Telangana, all the six guarantees that it had made would be implemented. He claimed that the Congress had implemented the promises it hade made in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, and also that it had kept its promise of a separate State for the Telangana region, and so the people should believe it. He also said that the party would rule transparently, and would distribute the wealth to the people of the State after coming into power.
