CM Requests Nadda For Release Of Urea To Telangana
The CM told the Union minister that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes of urea were supplied between April and June, against the 5 lakh tonnes needed for Kharif.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today urged Union Minister for Fertilisers and Chemicals J P Nadda to ensure the timely supply of urea allocated to Telangana to meet the State's agricultural needs during the ongoing farming season.
The Chief Minister met Nadda at the latter's residence in Delhi. During the meeting, he informed the Union minister that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes of urea had been supplied between April and June, against the required 5 lakh metric tonnes for the Kharif season.
He also brought to Nadda's attention that of the 1.6 lakh metric tonnes of urea scheduled for July - comprising 63,000 metric tonnes of domestically produced urea and 97,000 metric tonnes of imported urea - only 29,000 metric tonnes had been delivered so far.
Saying that farming activity was in full swing and irrigation projects were receiving abundant inflows, the Chief Minister appealed to the Centre to prevent any disruption in urea supply.
The CM also requested Nadda for enhancement of Telangana's quota of domestically produced urea and also an increase in the number of railway rakes for transportation, especially in view of the railways' reluctance to allocate additional rakes.
