Two members representing the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh chapter of the All India Service Pensioners’ Association today donated Rs 6.50 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) on behalf of the body, to support the Covid-19 relief measures being undertaken by the state government.
Association President M Gopalakrishna and Secretary Dr R M Gonela called on Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar at the BRKR Bhavan, and handed over the cheque to him.
They asked Kumar to use the amount to meet the challenges thrown up by the ongoing pandemic.
This is not the first time that prominent figures have stepped forward to bolster the relief works - in March, last year, several prominent industrialists had lauded the TRS regime's attempts to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in the state, and had made
hefty donations to the CMRF to contribute to the efforts. Where Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Company Limited had announced a donation of Rs 5 crore, KNR Constructions owner Kamidi Narasimha Reddy had given the fund Rs 1 crore. Further, Laurus Labs CEO Dr Satyanarayana and ED Chandrakanth Chereddy had handed over a cheque for Rs 50 lakh, and had announced that they would also provide one lakh hydroxychloroquine tablets.
Not to be left behind, several Tollywood celebs too had
come forward to support the relief efforts. Megastars Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu had each announced donations of Rs 1 crore. Director Anil Ravipudi had also given Rs 5 lakh each to the CMRFs of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
