HC Seeks Report On Doctors, Students Getting Covid

The High Court today asked the Telangana government to explain how some doctors and medical staff contracted Covid despite the supply of PPE kits to them.
Hyderabad | 4th June 2020
The High Court today asked the Telangana government to explain how some doctors and medical staff got infected by the coronavirus despite the supply of PPE kits and other materials to them.

The court ordered the government to submit a detailed report by June 8 on the supply of kits, masks and gloves, and on the number of cases and the measures being taken to break the corona chain.

A bench of the court comprising Chief Justice R S Chowhan and Justice Vijaysen Reddy was reacting on several petitions against the government for neglecting the court's orders, including petitions by retired DMHO Rajender and retired professor P L Vishweshwar Rao.

Advocate Ch Prabhakar argued that despite the court directions, the government failed to supply kits and other material to doctors and medical students and professionals.

This had led to a rise in the cases involving them, he added.

The court expressed displeasure on the rise in cases, and asked the government whether it had investigated into how the cases had spread to doctors, medical students and others in the healthcare field.

The court directed the government to give detailed information and a report on the same.
