The Telangana High Court today instructed the government to check the growth in coronavirus cases by taking all possible measures.
Responding to a petition, the court said that the government needed to take more measures to check the virus' spread and infections.
Earlier, Health Director Srinivas Rao informed the court that the government and health staff were able to provide all necessary healthcare facilities across the state. He said that as part of the house-to-house fever survey, the health staff had so far distributed medical kits to 1.7 lakh people in the state in just a few days. The survey was to be completed in seven days or so, and more steps were on to check the virus' spread, he said.
The government counsel also said that the officials were taking all possible measures to address the coronavirus cases in children and the elderly.
The court then instructed the government to strictly implement the coronavirus protocols to ensure that the people wore masks, sanitised their hands and avoided gatherings. The officials concerned should impose strict restrictions on public meetings, gatherings and social events, the court said. It was unfortunate that the people were not maintaining social distance, the court said.
The court asked the Director to attend to the case and posted it to January 28, according to reports.
