The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted surprise inspections on Friday at two government-run hostels in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Narayanpet districts, and uncovered multiple irregularities and submitted a detailed report to the State government for necessary action against the officials involved.
ACB officials inspected the Government Scheduled Castes Department girls' hostel in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, and the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School and Junior College boys' hostel in Narayanpet district.
The inspections were carried out by a multidisciplinary team comprising inspectors from the Legal Metrology, Sanitary, Food Safety and Audit departments. Their mandate included assessing food quality and quantity, sanitation conditions, student enrollment data, and maintenance of hostel records.
The ACB found several irregularities during the inspection.
In another case, the ACB arrested Kumabam Nagaraju, a Grade I Panchayat Secretary in the Challur village in Veenavanka mandal, Karimnagar district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in exchange for allotting a house number to a complainant's newly constructed house.
He is awaiting presentation before a special court.
The ACB has urged the public to report any demands for bribes by public servants. Complaints can be lodged via the toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), and the bureau's official website.
