HC Pauses Shifting Of Gaddi Annaram Fruits Market
The Telangana High Court today asked the state government to stop the shifting of the Gaddi Annaram fruit market to the Bata Singaram market yard till October 4.
The Telangana High Court today asked the state government to stop the shifting of the Gaddi Annaram fruit market to the Bata Singaram market yard till October 4.
It issued the orders in response to a petition filed by the Wholesale Fruit Commission Agents Association.
Arguing the case on behalf of the petitioners, their counsel told the HC that the market was being shifted without any facilities being provided at the new market yard.
He said that the new market yard did not have 40 acres of land as promised by the state government, as of the 40 acres of land, 30 acres had already been leased out to private people, resulting in the yard having only 10 acres of land.
However the counsel for the state government said that the government had sanctioned Rs. 68 lakhs for providing basic amenities at the market yard, and that the yard had facilities like cold storage and hamalis.
Responding to this, the HC asked the state government to submit a report on the issue.
