The Telangana High Court today rejected a petition to stay the suspensions by the Assembly Speaker of BJP MLAs?Raghunandan Rao, Raja Singh and Eatala Rajender.
The court heard the petition and declined to pass orders to be given video details of the suspension motion or to stay the suspensions.
The High Court however directed the Legislature Secretary to provide the necessary details for a full inquiry. It then adjourned the case for four weeks to enable the conducting of a full inquiry.
The Speaker had suspended three BJP MLAs on March 7 for the entire budget session for storming the well of the House (the MLAs had kicked up a ruckus against the government to protest there being no speech by the Governor on the first day).?The BJP leaders later moved the court against the suspension and pleaded for a stay on it, arguing that the suspension was against the constitution and legislative procedures. However, Advocate General Prasad argued that courts could not intervene in the affairs of the Assembly.
