Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan today extended her wishes to the doctor community in the state on the occasion of Doctors' Day.
In an official release, the Governor said, "On the occasion of National Doctors' Day today, I extend my heartiest wishes to all the doctors who render their selfless services to mankind. Today is the right day to express our deep gratitude to all the doctors who have been the frontline warriors fighting tirelessly against the Covid-19 pandemic - the current health emergency has only highlighted, yet again, the pivotal role played by doctors in ensuring the wellbeing of society. Their contribution to protecting human beings from the clutches of the coronavirus is truly commendable. Saving patients' lives even at the cost of risking theirs every day, scores of brave and committed doctors have been at the forefront of the world's battle against the pandemic."
Explaining the significance of the occasion, she added, "Doctors' Day is celebrated on July 1 every year in honour of the birth and death anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician who served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. Let us all take this opportunity to revere the doctors who toil endlessly to protect us, and thank the doctors of Telangana and the rest of India for their invaluable services. I urge the people of the state to recognise the part doctors play in protecting us from ill-health through their noble profession."
