Governor, CM Unfurl Flags To Mark Republic Day

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan today extended greetings to people on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day.
The Governor hoisted the tricolour at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, and then flew to Pudicherry to do the same, according to reports.
Speaking on the occasion at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, the Governor said that this Republic Day assumed greater importance in view of the country celebrating its 75 years of independence this year.
"The day is a major milestone in our country's history as it marks the coming into effect of the Indian Constitution in 1950. Republic Day signifies the supremacy of the Constitution and highlights that the ultimate power rests with the people of the country. On this day in 1950 the country embarked on its journey as a republic, where the people through their collective will can design the destiny of the country," the Governor said.
"The Indian Constitution is the most comprehensive, and is considered one of the best constitutions in the world. Our Constitution is proving to be time-tested and has successfully shaped the world's largest and vibrant democracy. Republic Day is the day that we must take an oath to remember, respect and promote the core ideals of the Constitution like Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity," she added.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao separately unfurled the national flag in his camp office Pragathi Bhavan to mark the 73rd Republic Day celebrations.
Along with some ministers and officials, the Chief Minister hoisted the tricolour and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar.
He later also paid tributes at the Martyrs' Memorial at Parade Grounds to mark the occasion.
At the Assembly premises, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy unfurled the national flag and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar. MLAs, MLCs, Assembly Secretary Dr V Narsimha Charyulu and others were present.
