Republic Day Fracas: BJP Slams KCR For "Insulting Democracy"

Bandi Sanjay said that the Telangana CM had humiliated Dr Ambedkar by not holding the Republic Day celebrations at the Parade grounds despite High Court directions.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said that BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had failed to uphold democracy and had insulted the Constitution, the judiciary and the national flag.

Addressing party functionaries at the BJP State headquarters after unfurling the tricolour on the occasion of Republic Day, Sanjay said that the CM had humiliated Dr B R Ambedkar by not holding the Republic Day celebrations at the Secunderabad Parade grounds despite directions from the State High Court.

Also accusing KCR of repeatedly insulting a woman Governor, he asked if that was the respect that the BRS leadership had for women.

He said that the BJP would strive for a democratic Telangana with the spirit of Dr B R Ambedkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Several senior leader of the party attended the celebrations.
