Telangana Formation Day Celebrated In Grand Manner At Raj Bhavan
It was also the birthday of the Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, and the two celebrations brought a grand festive look to the Raj Bhavan.

Telangana Formation Day celebrations were held in a grand manner at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, witnessing laptop donations to poor students, cultural performances, and recognition to achievers.
It was also the birthday of the Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, and the Formation Day celebrations coupled with the birthday celebrations brought a grand festive look to the Raj Bhavan as scores of people from different fields thronged the place to extend greetings to her, vying with each other to present bouquets, shawls, books and mementos to her at the iconic Durbar Hall.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Soundararajan paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of a separate Telangana State.
"The realization of a separate Telangana State is the result of numerous sacrifices made by the people of the Telangana for the cause during the six-decade-long struggle," she said.
The Governor also thanked President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of Telangana as Governor.
"Despite many challenges, I continue to strive to serve the people of Telangana as Governor and as a sister," she said.
The Governor highlighted some of her initiatives like the Nutritional Intervention Program to improve the nutritional status of the particularly vulnerable tribal groups' people, Raj Bhavan Annam, donating and mobilizing laptops to the needy students and more.
On the occasion, the Governor handed over laptops to two differently abled needy-students. The laptops were sponsored by Bandi Sadanand of the Kandala Yamuna Raja Gopal Charitable Trust.
The Governor also felicitated 10 persons from different walks of life for their outstanding achievements and meritorious services.
Among them were Manju Latha Kalanidhi (Rice Bucket Challenge initiator), Kurella Vithalacharya (for donating his entire property for the village library), Koppula Narsanna and Padmavathi (tree-based farming pioneers), Thedavath Danjya Battu (exponent of Banjara Rabab instrument), Shaik Bade Saheb (promoting Telugu literacy), Ganji Madhavi Latha (promotion of puppetry), Ch Himaja (differently-abled activist supporting cancer patients), Anivtha Reddy (noted mountaineer) and Dasari Kondappa (exponent of burra veena).
On the occasion, one Madhava Reddy contributed Rs 50,000 to the Sainik Welfare Fund, and the cheque for that was handed over to the Sainik Welfare Board officials through the hands of the Governor.
