Five School Children, Teacher Drown In Medchal District

Five school children and a madrasa teacher drowned in the Malkapuram Yerragunta lake under the Jawahar Nagar PS limits of Medchal district today.

In a tragic incident, five school children and a madrasa teacher drowned in the Malkapuram Yerragunta lake under the Jawahar Nagar police station limits of Medchal district on Saturday.

The children were all aged between 12 and 14.

According to the police, the teacher took the students, who were studying at a madrasa, for a picnic. The children went into the lake without knowing the depth.

When all the five children began to struggle in the waters, the teacher, who was outside the lake, tried to save them, but all six drowned.

According to the police, the children were identified as Ismahil, Jaffer, Sohel, Ayan and Rihan, and the teacher as Yohen.

The bodies were shifted to the Gandhi hospital for post-mortems.

A total of 25 students belonging to the Hanifa Madrasa located at Kacheguda had come to the Jawahar Nagar Madrasa. Of them, some went to bathe in the Yerragunta lake, and turned victims of the tragedy.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.
